Think Twice

Think Twice groupe de post-punk Franco Américain à joué en première partie du groupe Franco-Chiléen Panico. Ils étaient pas mal et le chanteur me faisait rire avec sa mini-trompette et le fait qu'il était la sosie de Party Boy de Jackass.

The hi-hat was distinctly under-used.

La percussion était sérieusement sous employé ici, rien à voir avec les délires de cowbells des Rapture et al.

Festival Discobabel Mains d'Oeuvres (Pt.1)

Club des Chats: What a show!! Feline and delicious post-punk for all to enjoy. Props for the balloons hung from the drumkit. They tore down the house with their soft paw/sharp claw show.

Club des Chats: Après des mois d'attente, ils viennent à Paris. Ils jouent de la musique à la fois douillette comme la patte d'un chat endormi et aguisée comme les griffes d'un chat reveillé... et crispé.

Charles Hayward...the legendary drummer from This Heat did a solo show for Discobabel. Listening to his show made reconsider the preponderance of melody in pop. Charles Hayward strips the melody away leaving only his glorious stick action and potent vocals.

Son show a renversé ma conception de la musique. Je rarement vu un batteur jouer si fort. Sans aucun doute le 'higlight' de la serie de concerts 'intimes' du festival. Des rythmes brisant les coeurs en pierre et des paroles survolant ces derniers.


Keith drums for The Chap and also drives the van, now and again he mistakes petrol for diesel. Check out his rather fine trompe oeil T-Shirt. The Chap played a blinding set, full of bouncy basslines, cutesy synths that sometimes lost it, scratchy guitatrs and erratic double bass. What more could you ask for? Asthmatic Tourette's pop with a smattering (I know they will hate me for this) Stereolab nonchalance.

Keith est le batteur de The Chap et il conduit la fourgonette aussi, parfois il lui arrive de confondre du diesel avec de l'essence. Regardez son superbe T-Shirt trompe-oeil. The Chap ont joué un set brillant et décapant. DD et moi nous avons acheté leur deux albums: Ham et the Horse.

Grey Night

Je vais aller dormir dans un moment. Après une session monstre de uploadage de fotos sur Flickr (www.flickr.com) et d'écoute de la booty-electro-disco-synth-horror-core retransmise par C-B-S et d'un mix de Plastique de Rêve sur www.basic.ch, je suis au bout de mes phorces.

Cependant quelques infos recentes:

- Je n'habite plus à St Germain en Laye (Cependant j'utilise toujours la gare RER).

- J'ai découvert que: les glaces de cérise et pistache vont très bien ensemble, et que la confiture de lait existe vraiment.

- Je voyage partout dans la région Parisienne parlant à des gens deux fois mon age.

- Je porte mes chaussures de dépression hélas trop souvent.

- On ne peut jamais écouter trop de Miami Bass même si ça peut être vu comme quelque chose de moralement reprehensible.

-Mes cheveux ont tendance à sortir d'orbite les lundis.

- Panico (Tigersushi) rule!! photos and writing coming soon. On a imprimé ma photo de Carolina Tres Estrellas (voir photos soirée OSCAR / Tigersushi - mois d'Octobre 2004) sur un supplément de magazine à la Mairie de Bou-Bou.

Do you wanna go for ride?


Deux demoiselles qui ont consenti que leur remarkables jupes soient photographiées. Celle de gauche collectionne des set-lists, elle posséde aussi une vache illuminée et adore American Splendour. Celle de droite se trimballait ce jour là avec un bocal rempli de nourriture compliquée.


Un extincteur et des murs récouverts liège. C'est reconfortant.

Ils avaient des Miroirs en guise de carrés de BD et ils stencillaient des T-Shirts en plus. Dommage que je n'avais pas de T-shirt stencillable ce jour là.

Pour son premier festival, l'association Disco-Babel, résidente de Mains d'Oeuvres, ouvre sa discothèque secrète et invite ses correspondants anglais pour une date unique, et un boogie d'enfer !

Face A, il y a le Single-club des singuliers dans la salle Star-Trek, avec les concerts solos de DAVID FENECH, GRIMO, GHEDALIA TAZARTES et CHARLES HAYWARD (This Heat) ainsi que ALBERT MARCOEUR dans un rôle inhabituel de DJ, tandis qu'en Face B, dans la salle de concert, ça grognera sec avec le post-punk de BLURT et la pop troublée de THE CHAP (Lo'Recordings) et du CLUB DES CHATS (Lo-Fi branque).

En Face C, comme Café, on retrouvera le Disco-Babel Boogie (table de fanzines, troc de disques, diapo-Babel) mais aussi les DJ sets Spécial Scène Française des amis du Consortium ROCKIN'DAVDUF, LA POMME DU JOUR, KANTES (Hommage à Marie et les Garçons)... Allez, lacez vos chaussures blanches, et zou sur la piste !"

Corporate Elation

Je me suis arrêté à l'Esplanade de La Défense, puis je marché entre les tours en verre et acier. Je suis arrivé à l'heure pour mon rendez-vous qui à eu lieu dans une salle aux murs blancs en carton-pâte. Quand je suis sorti j'ai pris ces photos.

I arrived at the Esplanade de La Défense. Then, I walked amongst the glistening skyscrapers and po-mo Lego-like builings. I arrived on time for my interview which took place in a non-descript room with a computer and a telephone on a formica table. I was surrounded by white divider walls and corporate elation. When I came out I took the following photographs.

Architects are just like little children. Leave them alone for a while and things like La Défense happen. More like a Super Mario Bros. crossed with Jacques Tati's "Playtime" than a business district. This is where I'm going to work from now on.
