The Deja Vu Crowd

We never get excited.
We have forfeited outward elation to be witnesses not critics.
Our senses have been blunted and deadened.

Culture is no longer our pleasure.
Culture has become our daily sustenance,
On the train, in our head, on the screen.

Our bodies are becoming irrelevant.
There is no need to move or to dance.
A smile, a wink or a nod are enough...here and there.
